Photography Skills
While our courses and '1 to 1' training allows many to get
a very good understanding of photography and progress to be able to master their
chosen areas, and by selecting a range of courses and tailor made days they
can, in concept, build their knowledge considerably, we wanted for those who
wanted to go far further to offer an extended personal tuition to give them the
skills to become a professional photographer with a far wider range of skills
and abilities than most, and an ability to take on just about any type of
photographic assignment.

Photography is a very large subject, with many specialist
areas, ranging from news and gathering evidence to food photography, fashion,
and from personal markets like weddings to impersonal ones like limited editions
prints, sold via the internet, with of course many other areas as well. |
The Programme
This is planned to take 18 months for you to
complete, made up of 1 day a month with us, learning and practising new
photographic skills and assignments undertaken by you in between visits.
We begin with a 3 day intensive fast start,
that are Platinum days, 9 hours long. Starting from the point you have reached
we make sure you are on top of the basics and have the knowledge to build
forward on. If you have already done some training such as the HNK, then you
will realise our method of going fast over what you know and slowing down with
new ground will allow you to move forward rapidly. If you haven't done anything
or not a lot before then you will really enjoy the experience, everyone does, and
you won't have any problem coping as we don't move forward until you have grasped
each point. You cannot fail with this method, at the worst you make slightly
slower progress. As you are able to see things practically and try it out
yourself you will find it is both more enjoyable and easier to master than you
expect.
Each visit to us after the first 3 days is for a long
Platinum day, lasting from 9am
to 6pm. This day is broken into a number of varying length segments. The first
reviewing the assignments undertaken, the second developing new skills, the third
a business element looking at a specific market and a specific business skill,
the fourth at the next assignments, and any remaining time used constructively
to gain more experience, and assist you in any area of interest. In addition to
this there are 4 practical assignment days with us, at other locations, but
these each replace one of the assignments for that month.
From this you can see that we have 18 tutorials, about 36
assignments, including 4 on locations with us, and cover 18 business areas and
18 markets or groups of markets for photographers.
Within the sessions learning new skills and the
assignments, we get to cover just about every type of photography.
The sequencing topics are covered will vary from one
person to another, in part to line up with seasons and items on and in part to
line up with their major interests and areas that are of most interest to them
to develop next. The 4 location shoots may also vary from one person to another,
but typically might be a day in a large professional studio taking nudes, a
wedding, a sports event and a public event, either a fashion show or PR event.
However, where people have other specific interests such as medical photography,
scientific work or aerial work, we are likely to switch these assignments about,
or offer additional days to cover more. As we may have more than one person with
us on these away days, as this is far more economic to put on this way,
we may be able to include more.
There is some assignment overlap, allowing you to cover
again some areas that could perhaps do with more practice and in areas of
specific interest to you.
Our objective is to assist you, by the end of the 18 month
period, to be an expert in some areas and more than competent across the majority
of the specialist areas that a photographer may encounter.
Where you start to use your skills commercially will be up
to you, for some it will be from a few months in, while others may not want to
undertake very much commercially until the end of the period. We anticipate that
this will prove attractive to those who are looking for photography at start to
either be a part time income, or a developing income in retirement as well as
those who want to make a planned career change.
As people become proficient at specific skill areas, we
will be issuing certificates in each, that over the 18 months will develop into a
portfolio, made up of photographs and certificates. Our intention is to maintain
a standard and assist people to develop portfolios so that this becomes
recognised as the highest photographic skills training available anywhere.
| Your commitment
To take on 2 assignments a month plus attend a day a month over 18 months is a considerable commitment in terms of your time and resources
in addition to the cost involved. This should not be taken on lightly, and if
you are not sure if you want to take on so much or if you have sufficient
interest in going to this level, then we suggest you start by undertaking the 5
day 1 to 1, and see how you get on with this first.
Our commitment
This you will appreciate requires a considerable
commitment from us, in developing a special series of course elements to cover
each of these specialist areas and content, and in looking at the specific
interest of individuals and the work they are doing. As each is being
treated completely individually, providing the maximum opportunity for each
participant to excel, there is no scaling savings possible, and to be able to do
this really well and allow people to select the days they wish to attend with
us, we are limiting the number of these places to initially only 5,
increasing this to 10 as soon as we are confident we can handle this. As we
expect more people to be interested in this than we can handle, we will be
creating a waiting list, once the initial places are filled. We do anticipate that
some will drop out along the way.

The cost
You are involved in this with us in total for at least 25 days,
3 to start plus 18 monthly plus 4 external day assignments, all are long days,
each 9 hours or more.
25 days x 9 hours = 225 hours at least.
This would require 225 training vouchers.
Allowing for some extra days, other help
you will require and some marketing assistance, plus use of models and other
items you will need a few more, so we have boosted the total to 250.
250 training vouchers is the point where
you get a 25% discount. The cost is £10,687.50. and having paid this you can
proceed at your own speed completing the course faster if you wish.
You are not getting charged anything for
all the extra preparation or any premium for the 4 external days.
This compares favourably with other highly
specialist courses, several property courses for example cost as much as
this for just 3 days.

Spreading the costs
You get the best rate by purchasing all 250
training vouchers at the same time, but if you wish you can purchase them in
smaller blocks, whatever suits you. We do however ask that you maintain a
balance of 30 training vouchers in credit at all times if you decide to spread
the costs, by buying training vouchers as you go. So the minimum you need to
start is 30 plus 27 (3 days of 9 hours) that's 57 this would cost £2,821.50.
EPS Plus
Exactly the same as the above, but also
includes a further 10 days, assisting you in your own area to get you over those
first few jobs that you may struggle with, plus a further 5 days assistance and
special training as the need arises later. The objective of this is to allow you
to have support when you need it, to guarantee that you can take on the
assignments that come up. Many when they start out have to turn down work to
start either because they lack the confidence to reliably succeed, or that they
just don't have the equipment. The 10 away days are at the premium rate of
2 training vouchers per hour and assume that we have to be away from here for 9
hours each of the days on average. In total the package now has 500 training
vouchers qualifying for the higher discount of 30%. Costing in total
£19,950.
