Edit and Print

We can of course train you to edit, colour calibrate/profile screens and printers and produce all types of quality output. All of this is covered within the training sections, however some people may not wish to purchase a printer, profiling equipment and do this themselves, especially if the number of prints is going to be low or use infrequently. Some may only want to undertake some layout and print process to a very high standard infrequently or perhaps after a particular trip or holiday. It is for these clients that this service caters.

You can visit us by appointment and work with one of us while we edit your photographs for you, printing them out to exhibition or portfolio quality.

We can also help you to create a coffee table book full of your edited photographs.

Masters for limited edition printing can also be set up.

Charges are based on time used and prints produced, most of the editing is done with Capture NX which is very quick, most photos taking under 10 minutes each to edit fully. We also have Photoshop CS and CS3, but use Capture NX for the majority of the photo editing and Photoshop for some specific or artistic tasks. Photoshop editing takes many times as long as Capture NX to achieve the same results.

Edited versions are put on a CD or DVD for you to take away and later reuse.

We can also edit with you, without printing.

Many photographers we feel are able to produce satisfactory results up to A4, and this is as large as many will need to go on a regular basis. Many will not have the justification to purchase equipment and supplies to go up to just over twice this size or produce the long life exhibition quality work on a regular basis. These printers need to be used regularly to keep them running and occasional work can be time consuming and troublesome, as well as expensive in wasted ink used in multiple cleaning runs, necessary to clean print heads. Some may not want to spend as much on editing software or put in the time to get to use these fully, while others will be able to handle routine editing but feel that some portfolio or exhibition work might be improved further. We were not able to find an alternative for any of these clients needs, that would allow the finest quality work to be produced, and this brought about the review of what would be the ideal service to meet these needs and how to provide it.

This has been developed to allow the highest possible quality to be produced, and while we have tried to keep the running cost as low and economical as possible, this service does not attempt to compete with the mail-in discount rapid printers, neither is it aimed at volume production of wedding and event photography.

While we are capable of editing work without clients being present, we decided against this, as we wanted to empower photographers to get the most from their work rather than for them to subcontract what is a major step in the artistic process.
