All courses
Photographic skills, business and framing now have the same unified pricing structure.

Prices are based on a training voucher price of £57, and where one voucher is for one hour of VIP 1 to 1 training. One of the advantages of training vouchers is that you can get the prices considerably lower than this.

You can book training and pay for it then, or if you prefer order a block of training vouchers and use them to book courses over time. The training vouchers (and gift vouchers) can be used with Camera Images, Photography Skills and Photo Skills as well as as arrange of other providers, covering many training topics.

All clients get the same super standard, and courses over 6 hours include a meal.

To add a second person to a 'short' add 1 training voucher. (Option not available on Quick Start shorts).

Our objective is always to provide the very best training service that you get real benefit from, not the cheapest. We are also not the most expensive. While we are the leading Nikon 1 to 1 training provider, the most popular Canon training provider charges £600 a day for 1 to 1 photographic training. At least 3 others charge over £600 a day. Some others are over £300 a day as a part of a group course. We are currently near the middle in price, but offer a VIP  experience that we don't believe any of the others could match.

We are more expensive than some because:-

  • We work with lower numbers of people, than many, giving you more personal attention
  • We use only very experienced director level photographers, it is unlikely you will ever have a question that cannot be answered immediately.
  • We have a very large amount of equipment, lenses, camera bodies, tubes, grads, flash systems, editing and printing equipment and more.
  • We are based in ideal surroundings, one of the nicest locations in the UK, in a completely safe area, our facilities are second to none.
  • We provide you with a VIP experience.
  • We are professional photographers producing the best quality work, and able to show you how to do the same.

If you compare the hourly charge, it is lower than most others like garages, plumbers etc. We are charging about half the rate we have to pay to get the car serviced. So really our prices are too low, but we also have lower costs than some and enjoy what we do a lot more.

The total cost of attending a course to you includes travelling, accommodation and any other costs you have, and if you are going to make this sort of investment in time and money, you really want to get the very most out of it. Spending perhaps a little more can be the cheaper choice in the long run, rather than attending many courses that are of less benefit.

With business courses, the saving of time and faster progress can far more then justify the expense. With the 18 month course being arranged in an order to get you earning fast, in the area of your choice, most of the course costs can be paid out of the extra income generated.

Discounts available applicable to photographic, framing and business training days.

Voucher volume discounts.

Purchase a block of training vouchers and use them as and when you like. 1 voucher = 1 hour, if/when prices go up the voucher price will change, it will still be worth 1 hours training so you freeze inflation.

Vouchers are valid for 18 months from issue. They can be used with Camera Images (Nikon based 1 to 1, framing and business), Photography Skills (Beyond the Basics, VIP 1 to 1), and Photo Skills (budget courses). With Photo Skills the vouchers are in some cases used slightly differently, in that courses may be priced in training vouchers not relating to time.

Purchase 25 vouchers deduct 10%, purchase 50 vouchers and deduct 15%, purchase 100 vouchers and deduct a whopping 20%.  ..... see more, how to save over £1000.

In the price tables above the minimum column shows the rate with the maximum discounts available applied, these are rounded to the nearest pound.

Deals (when available) provide extra benefits on top of these discounts.

Help by the Hour - Consultancy  (consultancy, NOT a training course)

If you already have a training course booked and need just a few minutes help on the phone, such as advice on selecting equipment, then we can help with this without requiring the use of this service. Also consider using a new 'Short' this costs only half as much as consultancy, where it can apply.

Attending our centre in the Cotswolds. Two training vouchers per hour, or part of an hour. To use this service you must have at least 5 training vouchers more than you use to book the session, when you book the consultancy session.

Consultancy away from our centre, but within the UK. For example help with your project, or a personally developed course for your staff £2,000 a day.

Materials used - normally no charge

These are usually included for courses, except where we specifically say otherwise.

If you want photos you have taken put on a CD to take home, then there is no charge for this.

If we make prints to demonstrate or experiment then this is also included in the prices above, but if you want to run off a quantity of prints then we will charge for these at an estimated cost equal to the cost to us of paper, ink or other materials used.

Where a person is attending  and does not have a camera, or is looking at a range we will use ours. There is no additional cost for this. Please bring your camera unless you have arranged otherwise with us.

Use of models

We use models on many of our training days, such as portraiture, flash and creative lighting studio skills and the like, often for an hour or two to allow practical experience to be gained.  Where we have included it in the course design there is no additional cost for this, we cover this cost.

Where you request a model, or a second model, or want to extend your practical experience and have the model available longer, we can arrange this at a cost of 1 training voucher for up to 2 hours, nearly all of which goes to the model.  ..... see more on models and modelling.

You may like to also consider adding a day or two to your next course to allow you to build or expand your portfolio, with our assistance, and resources. Having a model or models available for part of this will both focus your planning and give greater variety to your work. All models sign model releases on 1 to 1 sessions that allow you to use the photographs for your portfolios, advertising and for most other work.

No extras, unless we have told you in the course description

A light lunch is included in Gold (7 hour) and longer days, as well as tea and coffee in all. The rates quoted are all you pay, there are no extras unless specified on the course, and we don't sell you anything. On Gold (7 hour) and longer days, multi day courses we provide lunch and drinks such as tea and coffee.

Kits, guides and aids we have developed for the course you are on, the book we have created for Capture NX training and other items that we have produced that are relevant directly to what you are being shown we give you. Most other services, kits, guides, booklets and anything else we have developed that is not directly relevant to the course you are doing can be ordered off the customer support page. We don't try to sell you these items while you are on a course with us, usually if we feel you need them to make the most of your training with us, then we give it to you.

If we take you anywhere to take photographs then there is no cost to you for this.

Unless we specify in the course details, any entry fees or other costs such as rail line-side passes, entry to Slimbridge, or other facility or attraction,  are paid by us.

Comparing prices

A light lunch as well as tea and coffee is included, in all sessions from Gold (7 hours) up. The rates quoted are all you pay, there are no extras unless specified on the course, and we don't sell you anything.

If comparing our prices to others, don't forget to add on any extras that they charge, ranging from camera hire, to print rates to travel and entry costs.

Our business courses are unique, and therefore it is not possible to compare the prices with others. Generally business courses are slightly more than technique courses to allow for the additional time required for tutors to keep up to date and research so many avenues. Ours were too initially but now we have decided to simplify things and have a single charging rate.

Hands on training with a full range of top end Nikon equipment cannot be done cheaply. In our case we hire most of it as needed, as to have probably over £80,000 worth of equipment that was all going to be out of date in a year or two and had to be paid for out of the courses would double the course fees we have. Over 25% of the course fees are used up in the provision of the equipment, where it is provided, and another part has to be put aside for any repairs and to cover materials used.

If a person puts on a course for 15 people they can charge far less per person than when a course is put on for just one. The largest photography training company would charge £150 for a day to put on a day for 14 people, if it was to put it on in the Cotswolds.  This means they get 150x14=£2,100, while we charge only a fraction of this for teaching just you.

You will not find the same service we offer anywhere else at less than twice our prices. At least 4 who could not offer what we do currently charge more than twice what we do.

1 to 1 offers the advantage that we can concentre on your requirements, you make more progress and the tutor will cover the ground you want and stop to look at any other aspect relating to handling Nikon Digital equipment you wish.

However if you do want to go for a group course, then first take a look at the online interactive course that would be better, www.photo-skills.co.uk while not as effective as 1 to 1 its better than a group course, reading a book or other non interactive training.
